J. Morris David J. Morris is an equity partner practicing in the areas of corporate and securities law and corporate finance. He concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, securities, banking and finance, trading and commodities law, emerging growth companies, and general corporate matters. He has significant expertise in the investment management, proprietary trading and commodities law areas, including the representation of hedge funds and other private investment vehicles, broker-dealers, registered investment advisers, commodity pool operators, commodity trading advisors, and other investment management and trading industry participants. He also serves as outside general counsel to emerging growth companies in a wide variety of industries. Prior to joining FHSLC, Mr. Morris was general counsel and managing director of a private equity, investment banking and proprietary securities trading firm, where he was responsible for structuring, negotiating and documenting a broad range of transactions. Previously, he was a partner practicing corporate and securities law at Ungaretti & Harris. Mr. Morris received a B.S. in Finance with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988, studied at the London School of Economics, and earned a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 1991, where he was an associate editor of the law review. Prior to entering private practice, he worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He has been recognized by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois in Mergers & Acquisitions Law, Securities & Venture Finance Law, and Small, Closely & Privately Held Business Law. He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, the Economic Club of Chicago, and the Committee of Hearts of Hedge Funds Care. Contact: |
